‘Ensuring our pharmacy graduates are the most sought after all over the world’: Trinity College and Innopharma Education announce partnership

Irish company Innopharma Education is proud to announce a partnership with Trinity College Dublin’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The partnership will see Innopharma Education donate e-learning materials and educational support to the value of €1.1 million over the next 5 years to Trinity. This will provide students with access to the very latest industry grounded knowledge from the pharmaceutical industry. In return, Trinity’s students and academic team will provide valuable input and feedback into the continued development of Innoskills.com, Innopharma Education’s new e-learning platform for the pharmaceutical industry.

Innoskills is an e-learning platform offering unique training material specific to the global high-tech manufacturing sector, specifically Pharmaceuticals and Med-Tech.

Innoskills.com has been developed by Innopharma Education to meet the need for the latest industry-linked learning for anyone seeking to develop and enhance their skills for the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.

With modules covering topics such as Process Analytical Technology, Bioprocessing and QA & GMP, Innoskills.com provides industry grounded technical skills that many university students don’t always have easy access to.

To date, Trinity’s MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences class has already completed five of the Innoskills.com modules, with more modules being accessed since September 2019. These modules will be integrated into the Industrial Pharmacy module being rolled out for the fifth year of the MPharm programme, helping to create a link between academic theory and content and real industry case studies and applications.

Innopharma Education’s academic team will also provide lectures and workshops for Trinity students to further their understanding of current best practice in the application of new technology, and regulatory requirements especially in the key area of drug product manufacturing.

Professor John Gilmer, Head of Trinity’s School of Pharmacy, said: “It is very important to this School that our graduates are equipped with the very latest industry thinking and knowledge that ensures their employability in the industry. As Ireland’s pharmaceuticals industry continues to grow, our aim is that Trinity’s graduates continue to be the most sought after by employers here in Ireland and all over the world.”

“Our integration of Innoskills.com learning into our curriculum gives us a very flexible and innovative way to teach our students about important practical aspects of working day-to-day in pharmaceutical drug development and manufacturing. Our students have really enjoyed using the Innoskills platform, and we see a great benefit to this flexible route to industry learning. We’re delighted that Innopharma Education is working with us on this learning partnership.”

Ian Jones, CEO of Innopharma, said: “Trinity’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is in the top 25 of Pharmacy schools globally, so we’re very proud to have their students use our e-learning modules. Their students and academic staff have given us very important feedback, and are helping us to refine and develop our product. Feedback from students so far has been very positive – they are gaining important and valuable industry skills.”

“ I think any student now is very serious about choosing education that provides a competitive career advantage, and having up-to-date skills is part of that. It’s great that Trinity is being so forward-thinking in how it  integrates new pedagogical methods into its  academic programmes.”
