New Starters:

Victoria Buckley, Teaching & Learning Coordinator in Dublin

“Hi there! Victoria here. I am truly delighted to be part of the Education team based in Dublin as the Senior Teaching and Learning Coordinator. Though I am new to Innopharma Education, I am well established in the realm of education, from both the learner and educator perspective. Hailing all the way from New York where I was a High School English teacher, I came to Ireland to 2011 to further my education. I taught English at an international college in Dublin for a few years, before returning to the classroom to take my education even further! I then dabbled in the private sector in Learning and Development prior to joining the wonderful team at Innopharma! I am a firm believer we should all “develop a passion for learning [because] if you do, you will never cease to grow” (D’Angelo, Anthony J.). I look forward to learning and growing within my new role and alongside each of you!”

Viktorija Jureviciute- Graham – Programme Coordinator in Limerick

I finished Minor Award L6 Pharma course in Limerick in August this year. I never thought that I will be joining the team which gave me so much support and encouragement throughout my journey in completing the course, but again, life works in mysterious ways, and we are where we’re meant to be! :)

Now, I am incredibly happy to be a part of such a wonderful team and company, and to provide guidance and support for the current and future students in achieving their goals.

I worked in various retail management positions for the past 16 years and this new career pathway with Innopharma Education is just the change I was looking for.

Thank you all for such a warm welcome to the team.

Maria Terracianno - Learner Support co-ordinator in Dublin

“My name is Maria, I am from Italy and I moved to Ireland in 2016. Please don’t ask me why!

I studied Psychology at “La Sapienza” University in Rome, because I am fascinated by the human behaviour. I worked in several different sectors in Ireland always supporting people in different contexts.

Passionate about working with people, communication, and skills empowerment, I always do my best to develop new skills and improve, supporting others doing the same. As a Learner Support Officer at Innopharma I'm in charge of supporting students with disabilities to fulfil their potential accessing education in an inclusive environment. As a Job Club Leader, I have supported unemployed of all ages in improving their job search skills, increasing their chances to find a job, and empowering their motivation. As an International Programmes Assistant at DCU, I was mainly responsible for providing the best-in-class support to students serviced by the International Office.

In my previous experience as Recruitment Coordinator for Accenture at Google, I was involved in the coordination of the interview process for the Trust & Safety Department, in a fast-paced multi-national environment. I have also attended the CIPD - Certificate in Learning and Development at the NCI (National College of Ireland), as I am firmly interested in progressing my career and developing myself also from an educational point of view. Previously, I worked in Italy as a Trainer of Communication & Soft Skills, a Guidance Counsellor and a Training Coordinator, developing strong communication and management skills and the ability to liaise with team members at different seniority levels.

Now I am very happy to be part of the Innopharma Education Team!”

Unleashing Talent for the Future – 1 day skills event success!

On the 22nd of November 2023, Innopharma Education hosted a 1-day skills conference, aligned with the European Year of Skills. Business Leaders, People Managers and Talent Professionals came together to help solve organisations skills gaps and mismatches.

Minister Neale Richmond spoke about the importance of investing in skills to maintain Ireland's competitive edge, noting that a well-educated and agile workforce is a key attractor for international companies and talent.

Three panels further delve into the themes of Reinventing, Leading, and Supporting. The Reinventing panel emphasizes the need for a "future-capable" workforce, highlighting the evolving nature of skills required, including data analysis and AI skills. The Leading panel stresses the importance of embedding talent development into business strategy, with a focus on digital skills and workforce transformation.

Key takeaways from the conference include the acknowledgment that many organisations expect future skills gaps and the importance of effective implementation in upskilling programmes. It is evident that there is a cultural shift needed in the post-pandemic hybrid work environment, where flexibility and agile learning are paramount.

The (temporary) events team (😉) would like to thank everyone for all their help in organising this successful event.

Education Mindfulness Day

Our recent wellness day was a transformative experience that left us all with valuable insights and practical tools for enhancing our well-being. The highlight of the day was the engaging presentation by guest speaker Moira Geary, who delved into the fascinating realm of changing our physiology to positively impact how we feel. Moira introduced us to the concept of "wiring and firing," explaining how our past experiences shape our emotional responses and influence our decisions. Through six exercises, she guided us in various techniques to 'unwire' and create positive shifts in our perspectives. The session was not only enlightening but also empowering, providing us with tangible ways to improve our mental and emotional states.

The day continued with a delicious lunch that allowed us to connect and share our experiences from the morning session. In the afternoon, Caroline and Michelle led an entertaining and insightful exercise using the 'pace palette questionnaire' to help us discover our unique learning/working styles. This activity encouraged us to reflect on the diverse ways in which we absorb and process information. The notion of 'muti-coloured teams' emerged, emphasizing the importance of understanding and appreciating the varied learning preferences within our team. This newfound awareness is sure to enhance our communication and collaboration, fostering a more cohesive and understanding work environment. The wellness day proved to be a holistic and enriching experience, leaving us equipped with tools for both personal and professional growth.

One comment about the day I liked was ‘it made us feel connected... (but not to the internet!)

Congratulations to our Programme Manager, Nora Nelligan in Limerick, on the arrival of her beautiful baby girl, Mia. Best wishes to you and to your family!

Education and Technology Division working together: Level 6 Pharma Science Labs

In October and November we kicked off the level 6 Pharma Science labs in our Process and Analytical laboratories at Innopharma. The labs ran over 7 days in total, with 2 lab sessions per day and 21 students per session. There was several months of planning involved, which also included producing a number of pre-practical videos for the students to familiarize themselves with the instruments and experiments ahead of the onsite practical sessions in Sandyford. In order to make the labs possible, we trained up a pool of demonstrators from across education and technology. The feed-back from the students has been really positive, so well done to all of those involved across Education and Technology in making this such a success story. It was a team effort to say the least! I’m sure there will be many more student labs to come in 2024!

EU-PAT Conference presentation and Tradeshow presence

Darren McHugh attended the EU-PAT Conference focusing on sustainable, resilient and digitally enabled medicine manufacturing we he was giving a talk on Implementing an Automated DOE in Twin Screw Wet Granulation.

We also had the Eyecon2 showcased at the CIPM tradeshow in Xiamen China through our distributors Chanse.

AI webinar with Horiba

In October 2023, Girish Mallya and Laryssa Gorato delivered a webinar hosted by Horiba Scientific entitled "New Methods for Particle Size and Shape Analysis”, which marked the soft launch of EyePASS 3.1. A study comparing Eyecon2 results with sieve analysis was conducted to demonstrate the capabilities of the new EyePASS version. EyePASS 3.1 not only reports new shape and size parameters, but also allows exporting of per-particle data that contains information (including the new shape/size measurements) on every single particle detected. These new features can help users gain more insight into their particle size distribution. We had the highest attendance registered for this webinar, so it was a huge success!

 A sad farewell to Audrey

After 9+ years with Innopharma Audrey finished up in December.  Audrey began her life with Innopharma with the education division, lecturing on the L6 and L8 pharma programmes.  She was also heavily involved in generating new content, programme validations, and the development of the e- learning modules.  She moved to the Technical Services division in 2016 and was instrumental in pulling the initial programme content together and the startup of the division.  She has managed the programme delivery and evolution ever since.  After training 23 cohorts she has decided to take a step back. She will be sorely missed by all and was fondly remembered over the last few days for many qualities, such as, support, loyalty, in-depth industry knowledge, willingness to share her stories, empathy and understanding, good humour, the chats, etc, not excluding her legendary baking skills. Her legacy is the vast number of colleagues she has trained, enabling them to enter into successful careers in the pharmaceutical industry.  We wish her the very best of luck in the next chapter. Christine Shobana

"My journey has been marked by academic excellence and a relentless pursuit of my lifelong goal: contributing to the pharmaceutical industry. As a dedicated advocate of patient safety and a lover of people, nature, and art, I bring a unique blend of skills and passions to my professional endeavours.

Educational Excellence:

I earned my dentistry degree from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University, Chennai, India, the second-largest health sciences university in India. Here, I was exposed to a rich tapestry of knowledge and skills that laid the foundation for my career. During my final year of undergrad, my systematic review analysis on Early-stage developmental drugs offering targeted treatment for oral cancer, was recognized at the International Association of Dental Research, an honour that showcased the depth of my dedication and research abilities.

Navigating the World of Toxicology:

After 6 years of clinical practice, driven by an insatiable curiosity and a desire to expand my horizons, I ventured into the realm of toxicology at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm. Here, I delved into the intricate world of toxicology, studying under some of the brightest minds in the field. I spent four enriching years at Karolinska, where my research efforts culminated in a published work in a renowned journal – Contact Dermatitis, further solidifying my commitment to contributing to the medical and pharmaceutical communities. My journey as a toxicologist deepened my understanding of pharmaceuticals and their impact on human health, providing the foundation for my transition into the pharmaceutical industry.

Pursuing Excellence:

My keen interest in Pharmaceutical Medicine led me to earn a Higher Diploma from Griffith College, Dublin.  Innopharma Technical Services further enhanced my knowledge and expertise in the pharmaceutical domain. My lifelong goal has been to contribute to the pharmaceutical industry. I aim to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of pharmaceutical validation. As a pharmaceutical validation engineer, I leverage my comprehensive background in healthcare and toxicology to ensure the patient safety, quality, and efficacy of pharmaceutical products.

Beyond the Lab and Office:

Outside of my professional life, I find joy in embracing the simple pleasures of organic farming. I had the wonderful experience of cultivating potatoes in the picturesque fields of Ireland, connecting with the land and appreciating the beauty of nature.

My love for pets has led to wonderful companionship, and I often find joy and happiness in their company. In my spare time, I turn to painting as a form of creative expression, allowing me to bring the vivid colours of my imagination to life on canvas.

My Vision:

In summary, my academic journey from India to Sweden and Ireland, along with my professional experiences, has equipped me with a unique skill set and a deep understanding of the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. With a heart devoted to patient safety, a passion for organic farming, and a love for the arts, I am excited to continue evolving and making a positive impact in the pharmaceutical world. Through innovation, empathy, and a deep connection with people and nature, I aspire to contribute to a healthier, brighter future".

Hello all, I am Aayushi Verma, and I have been residing in Ireland for almost two years now. I have two Master’s in Microbiology and Pharmaceutical business and technology respectively. I did my first Master’s in India and was comfortable. Still, I believed that brilliant things happen outside your comfort zone so decided to pursue another master’s in Ireland at Griffith College. Also, I have done an internship program in a pharmaceutical injection plant, so I became more eager to learn about this sector. Currently, I am working with Innopharma and I believe that is the best thing that happened to me because I was new to this country, and I wanted someone who know the roots of this sector. I am working as a Cell Therapy Technologist with the Client company “Takeda”. This designation combines both my interest and experience. I feel blessed.

I am a person who believes that “if you are not happy in your personal life you cannot perform in your professional life”, and both are highly important. Hence, I give a good amount of time to my hobbies and interests. I like to cook in my free time. I am a professional sketch artist. I am pretty engaging in conversations related to different countries and cultures.

I am proud of myself today because when I look back, I have achieved so many things that I used to dream of five years ago. And there is no past version of myself that I need to get back to. I am learning and growing every day with an effort to become a person who can make others believe in good humanity".

"Hello, I’m Diana Mathew. I earned my Bachelors & Masters degrees in pharmacy in India and spent over 3 years working in a GMP plant within the QA Department. The decision to move to a foreign country was prompted by my partners presence in Ireland. Pursuing my second Masters in Pharmaceutical Business & Technology at Griffith College, I concurrently applied for various job roles and internships. Eventually, I secured an unpaid internship at Innopharma, where I received valuable hands on training, rekindling my prior experience. Following the internship, I successfully landed a position at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals in Limerick, all through the support of Innopharma. I am currently content and thriving in my professional journey here in Ireland".

The Best Christmas Party on record!!

In the spirit of festive cheer, the annual Christmas party in Kilkenny proved to be a resounding success, bringing together our incredible team from various divisions for a night of joyous celebration. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for everyone to reflect on the accomplishments of the year gone by, fostering a sense of camaraderie and unity among colleagues. The venue buzzed with excitement as colleagues mingled, sharing stories and laughter, creating lasting memories. The dance floor came alive with fantastic moves and grooves, with special mention going to Michael King, who earned the title of the "Best Inno Dancer" of the night. As we bid farewell to another remarkable year, the Christmas party in Kilkenny served as a fitting tribute to the hard work and dedication of our entire team, highlighting the collaborative spirit that defines our company culture. Cheers to a successful year and the promise of new achievements in the coming one!

A special thanks to Caroline who led the education division through the 'wheel of life' exercise. This was a great time for everyone to look at their life from a 'birds eye' view.  By looking at a visual representation of all the areas of your life at once, the wheel helps you to better understand which of your life areas are flourishing and which ones need the most work. A great exercise to take into the new year!
