Course Overview
As businesses adopt new technologies, data systems and digital tools, there is increasing need to ensure that transformation is not only efficient and innovative, but also environmentally responsible, ethically informed and socially aware.
This programme examines the relationship between digital transformation and sustainability in a practical and applied way. Learners will explore key themes such as sustainable operations, responsible innovation, ethics, leadership, digital change and the wider impact of technology on organisations and society. The programme supports learners in understanding how sustainability principles can shape decision-making, process improvement and future-focused organisational practice.
This part-time, blended programme is delivered over 1 semester. Lectures typically take place online on 2 evenings per week, with 1 Saturday per month delivered online or in class to support practical and applied learning.
Accreditation: NFQ Level 8 – Special Purpose Award 20 ECTS
WHO IS THE PROGRAMME FOR?
This programme is designed for learners who want to understand how sustainability can be integrated into digital transformation and organisational improvement. It is suitable for those working in business, operations, quality, project support, administration, technology or related roles who want to build future-focused skills. It is also relevant for professionals involved in digital change, process improvement or sustainability initiatives who want to strengthen their ability to support responsible decision-making and more sustainable ways of working across organisations.
PROGRESSION
Graduates will also be able to continue seamlessly to the Certificate in Digitalisation and AI (a 20 ECTS programme),
Certificate in Digital Business Excellence (a 20 ECTS Programme) or the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Process Digitalisation (a 60 ECTS programme).

Course Outline
This part-time programme runs over 3 months (1 semester). Lectures are delivered online 2 evenings per week. Also 1 -2 Saturdays per month (blend of online & in class).
COURSE CONTENT
- Sustainability and Ethics 10 ECTS
- Leadership in Sustainability 5 ECTS
- Digital Transformation for Sustainability 5 ECTS
Entry Requirements
Applicants require a relevant Level 7 qualification or equivalent. Relevant prior learning and industry experience may be considered through RPL.

AFTER THE PROGRAMME
On successful completion, learners will have the knowledge and practical understanding to contribute to sustainability-focused digital and organisational improvement
initiatives. They may use the programme to enhance their current role, support progression into roles linked to sustainability, digital change or process improvement, or build a foundation for further study.
The programme also supports progression to further education in areas such as sustainability, digital transformation, business improvement, leadership, operations or related disciplines. It provides a valuable platform for ongoing professional development in organisations that are increasingly focused on responsible innovation and sustainable transformation.
