Course Outline
This part-time programme is delivered 1-2 evenings per week and 1-2 Saturdays per month online. It is a QQI Level 9 programme (25 Credits) and registration and induction will begin in December 2020.
Module 1: Strategy, Leadership and the Culture of Innovation

Strategic thinking in the biopharma industry; leading change in the biopharma industry; culture of innovation, corporate governance and business ethics; developing and implementing strategies to maintain a competitive advantage in an evolving global environment.
Module 2: 21st Century Dynamics and Emerging Trends
ECTS Credits: 5
Challenges facing the pharmaceutical industry, new product types, patent cliffs, emerging markets, innovative medicines, live licensing, modes of healthcare delivery, governmental strategies, demands on manufacturing and distribution.
Module 3: Pharmaceutical Technology Transfer
ECTS Credits: 5
The technology transfer process, research to manufacturing, location to location, life cycle studies, raw material impacts, pilot plan studies, validation, commissioning and cleaning, project management, regulatory framework, analytical methods.
Module 4: Operational Excellence and the Science of Innovation
ECTS Credits: 10
Origins of operational excellence, operational excellence implementation models, lean sigma implementation, design of six sigma, science of innovation, TRIZ, key performance indicators (KPI), quality function deployment.
